Marykate Galluzzo

Occupational Therapist

Marykate earned her post-professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She brings over five years of experience to the field, with special interests in adaptive sports, chronic pain, self-regulation, and co-regulation.

After working in a community hospital and outpatient clinics serving pediatric patients and autistic adults, Marykate joined Leading Therapy Home to provide compassionate, individualized care within the environments where patients live, learn, and play.

Marykate holds a Certificate in School-Based Practice and has completed specialized pediatric coursework with an emphasis on self-regulation. She is passionate about helping individuals and families develop self-regulation and co-regulation skills as a foundation for meaningful participation in everyday activities. She is also a certified children’s yoga instructor and has contributed to research and professional literature exploring yoga, executive functioning, sensory-informed care, and trauma-informed healthcare experiences.

Marykate has extensive experience helping patients and families prepare for stressful medical appointments and interventions. She is particularly passionate about creating supportive, sensory-informed experiences that promote safety, comfort, and participation. She also has experience supporting children whose development and participation have been impacted by adverse childhood experiences. Adaptive sports are another area of special interest; as an adaptive swim instructor and trainer for community-based organizations. She is passionate about increasing access to meaningful recreation, physical activity, and community participation for individuals of all abilities.

Marykate takes a child-led, client-centered, and play-based approach to therapy. She believes in collaborating closely with each child and their support team, including family members, educators, and other healthcare providers. She brings enthusiasm, creativity, and compassion to every session, with the goal of helping each individual build confidence, develop meaningful skills, and participate more fully in everyday life.

Outside of work, Marykate enjoys reading, hiking, skiing, and swimming with her family, and is the proud mother of a former NICU baby and dog mom to Timmy.
